The Latos data centre has announced plans to improve digital infrastructure through providing ‘gigabit’ speeds to the residents of Tees Valley. This plan aims to increase speeds and reduce costs, due to being able to use existing Openreach infrastructure.

Latos has been quoted as saying that they would “Offer gigabit speeds to residents who would otherwise not have been able to offer ultrafast access to potential customers in the area.” The proposed network is said to include a “large number of premises, most of which are not currently eligible for fibre to the premises connections, and fibre to the cabinet only available in limited areas. Upon completion, connection access will be provided to national operators (and potentially local ISPs) to allow for better connectivity in the TVCA area.”
